Frequently Asked Questions

Is CodeThread available on the VS Code Marketplace?

Not yet! If you would like to install CodeThread, email us at paul@codethread.ai and howard@codethread.ai and we will generate an install link for you.

Does CodeThread support working with multiple repositories in the same CodeThread org?

Yes, you currently have access to create documentation for unlimited repositories.

Does CodeThread support working with repositories that are not stored in Git?

No, CodeThread currently only supports working with Git repositories.

Is the documentation I create in the IDE persistent across sessions or will it disappear when I close CodeThread or VS Code?

Yes! Documentation you create is persistent and shared with every team member in your organization.

Is the documentation I create in CodeThread visible only to me or to my teammates as well?

Yes, as long as you used the same CodeThread install link as your teammates, then you are part of the same CodeThread organization. All members of the same organization can see the documentation created by other members of the same organization.

If my teammate and I store our repositories in different directories locally, will CodeThread recognize that we are working on the same file?

Yes, CodeThread uses the relative path of each file in your repository to identify files, not the absolute path of where it is stored on your machine locally, so it does not matter where on your local machine you choose to store your repository.

Does CodeThread support writing high-level documentation that covers multiple files at once?

No, CodeThread currently only works on one file at a time, we're developing features to support creating documentation that takes input from multiple files in your repo. If this is something you’d like to upvote as a feature request, please let us know.

How do I submit or vote on feature requests?

If we have a shared Slack channel, you can post it there. Otherwise you can email it to us directly at paul@codethread.ai and howard@codethread.ai.
